Students discuss the salt marsh. They define the following terms: habitat, water, land and air. Students work in small groups. They are asked why are they going to a salt marsh? Students discuss whose habitat is it at the salt marsh.

Fourth graders research and discuss the importance of Gail Borden and his printing press to the history of Texas. They write a newspaper article from Gail Borden's viewpoint.

Learners study the ozone and measure its concentration in different areas. Students use Ecobadge strips and other equipement for measurement. Then they share their results on an on-line forum. Also, learners study environmental problems.

Students explore and appreciate variety of ways in which environment can be depicted for range of purposes. They compare different representations of place and environment, and analyze ways information is being communicated.
