First graders identify safety hazards in the home and learn ways to prevent home accidents. For this home safety lesson, 1st graders discuss ways to keep a home safe by brainstorming and then reading a story about home safety. They make clocks with moveable hands, and move through imaginary rooms in a house while displaying a likely time for being in that room. They finally discuss potential hazards in each room they "visit".
