Third graders increase vocabulary and comprehension. In this semantic lesson, 3rd graders read Getting to Know Nature’s Children: Wild Horses. Before reading, students begin a semantic map to define the word "horse," and they add to this map during and after reading. Finally, students make connections between their life and the story to aid in comprehension.
